Termly Learning Conferences (TLCs)
Termly Learning Conferences (TLCs) are what was known previously at River View Primary & Nursery School as 'Parents' Evenings'.
What is a Termly Learning Conference?
A Termly Learning Conference is a learning conversation between teachers, parents and learners. This is an important opportunity for you, your child and their teacher to review learning and celebrate the achievements made. It is also an opportunity to think about the next learning and the targets and actions that need to be set to ensure good progress is made.
Does my child come with me?
What can I expect?
You can expect a three-way conversation between child, teacher and parent about your son/daughter’s achievements. Your son/daughter will play a key part in the discussion and will already have highlighted some key pieces of work which he/she wishes to share with you.
My child has special needs, will this be different for him/her?
The format of the meeting shouldn’t be any different as TLC’s comply with SEND regulations however, we do invite parent’s of SEND children to meetings on a separate evening so that a longer appointment time can be given.
Reviewing learning with your child
Before the meeting, you may wish to have a conversation with your son/daughter about learning so that you and he/she are prepared for the meeting.
Such questions may include:
What have you enjoyed at school?
What do you think you have done well at? Why is this?
Where do you think you have made the most progress?
What would you like more help with?
What have you found a little bit tricky?
What has helped you with your learning? Why?
How have others helped you learn this year?
What would you like to achieve in the coming term?
How will you do this?
How can we as parents support you at home?
