Autumn Learning

Autumn Term

Autumn 2- This half-term our topic is “Artic Adventure”. It’s all about our global polar regions. We are going to be learning about snow, cold, artic animals, snowmen and ice. Our role play area will be a polar landscape with real igloos, fishing pond and warm coats to wear. We will be using ice in different parts of our classroom and exploring how the heat of our classroom effects the ice. We will be looking at the stories 'Here comes Jack Frost' and 'Poles Apart'. 


In maths will be developing our understanding of number by adding and subtracting different amounts. We will also be looking into lengths by comparing different lengths. 

In RWI we will be developing on our set 1 sounds. We will be working on our blending skills please look at the phonics videos and the learning we post on tapestry to help us learn at home. 
Our RWI learning will help us when we our writing the initial sounds as well as some phrases.


In writing we will be continuing to learn to write our names and also words, phrases and some simple sentences.

Autumn 1- This half-term our topic is '999 What's your emergency.' It is all about people who help us. 

We are going to be learning about people who help us, what they can do and how they are helpful.  Our role-play will be a hospital this half-term, we'll be pretending to be give medicine, bandage people, and be doctors and nurses. We will be reading 'Zog and the flying doctors'.  


In maths we will be focusing on our knowledge of number, making sure we recognise numbers 0-5, counting in order to 10 and also recording numbers. 


In RWI we will be learning our set 1 sounds (alphabet sounds) and using these to segment and blend words. Please look at the reading book we bring home to help us segment and blend words and also make up stories for books with no words. 


We will be focusing on writing initial sounds and our name this half term as well as talking in full sentences about what our marks mean
