Many of our modern- day Christmas Carols began in the Victorian Era. We learnt that 'Silent Night', 'O Christmas Tree' and 'God, Rest Ye Merry Gentleman' were all composed and written during Queen Victoria's reign. We also spent time learning about Christmas traditions during the Victorian times. Did you know that they told each other ghost stories on Christmas Eve? Scary stuff!
Carolling was very important to the Victorians so guess what? We learnt how to sing 'God, Rest Ye Merry Gentleman'. Every single person in the class had a brilliant afternoon and it was lovely to have so much fun whilst learning (and singing!).
