Mr Chris Stokes

Link Governor responsible for: Safeguarding; PE

Partner of Ms D Farmer -Curriculum Area Learning Supervisor

My association with River View Primary and Nursery School and has been long and happy spanning over ten years both as a parent and as a Governor. I was appointed as a Chair of Governors in 2014, My experience throughout this time has been extremely rewarding and has enabled me to talk regularly with children, staff and parents to understand how together we can raise standards and enhance and improve school life. My duties involve supporting the Head teacher and senior teachers across many aspects of school business and enable me to be regularly involved in monitoring children’s progress and achievement at the school.

My motive for becoming a school governor was to give something back to both the school and the community. I believe that children deserve the best that we as adults can give them they are our future, and a great way to do this is by giving them the best education that we can to give them the all round skills and knowledge to help them fulfil their full potential.

Mr Colin Bamford

Vice Chair of Governors

Term of Office: June 2018 - June 2021

Link Governor responsible for: Behaviour; Attendance

My day job is to visit schools on behalf of an Educational Service Provider. Having visited River View and having met with Mrs Whitehouse on a number of occasions, I was struck by a real sense of community, the drive to continually improve outcomes for children and how the school places pupils at the heart of every decision that is made.
I have a number of years’ experience in Primary, Secondary and Further Education. I am married with 6 children and 3 grandchildren, the youngest born in August 2018. I am keen to help support River View in any way possible.

I have spent most of my working life caring for children.  At home as a registered childminder and then as a Nanny to a family of 3 children. I have found a sense of humour is required which hopefully I have. At River View it has been my pleasure to help with the children's reading and hope to carry on doing this. I hope I am approachable and that people will find me a good listener. Finally I'm here for River View Staff, Parents/Carers and above all the children.

Mrs Katie Mousley

Staff Governor

Term of Office: September 2019 - September 2022

My River View journey began in June 2015 and I hope that it will long continue. I am proud to work at the school alongside some of the most hard-working individuals you could ever meet. Our children are simply wonderful and are what makes River View such a unique and rewarding place to work.

During my time at River View, I have taught predominantly in Year 6. I was lucky enough to spend three years in this year group which I thoroughly enjoyed. Last academic year, I taught in Year 4. Although it differed immensely from Year 6, I had an enjoyable year and found it enlightening to see the progression that the children make in their younger school years. I am looking forward to finding out which year group I shall be in next academic year!
Alongside being a class teacher, I am phase leader for Key Stage 2.
When I am not ‘Mrs Mousley’, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our newborn daughter Matilda and our two springer spaniels, Tilly and Skye. We spend a lot of time outside in the woods walking or in our garden (mucking out our chickens or tending to our vegetables). If I am not outside, I can usually be found in the kitchen creating new dishes with our home-grown produce.
I am very much looking forward to my new position as staff governor as it will be exciting to see what the next chapter in River View’s journey promises to deliver for the children, staff and wider community.
