World Book Day

On Friday 6th March, we celebrated World Book Day by coming to school dressed as a book character. At the start of the day, we split into groups with a mixture of children from Year 1 to Year 6 and visited three different classrooms throughout the morning. We read a different book in each classroom and participated in a range of activities based on the book.

Snowdrops

In the Key Stage One classrooms, the book we read was called 'Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell'.

Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell

Painting

We worked as a team to recreate the inside front and back cover illustration of the book by painting the plants and snails onto the purple background.

Decorating Doughnuts

In the story, Norman the slug finds a doughnut and decides to tie it to his back as a shell to make him look like a snail! We decorated doughnuts with icing and sprinkles and enjoyed munching on them while we watched the story on YouTube.

Designing a Shell

We coloured in Norman the slug and designed a shell to go on his back.
