Welcome to Year 4
Welcome to the Year 4 class page - we are delighted to be your teachers this year. Mrs Mousley and Miss Butler are the class teachers in Crocus class. In Iris class, Miss Bailey is the class teacher. Across the year group, Mrs Veli will be supporting during morning lessons and will be time-tabled between the two classes.

Timetable
This is the Autumn timetable for Year 4. We have PE every Monday and Friday. As we have moved to an active uniform, there is no longer any need to send your child in with a separate PE kit. Please can you name hoodies and jumpers as it really helps us to identify any misplaced ones!
Homework
This year, we have a new reading incentive in place and it is called 'Takeaway Treats'. Your child has been given a loyalty card and, in order to earn stamps, they must read for the amount of time shown for each half-term. This is a copy of the loyalty card:

Please log any reading onto Boom Reader, which will be checked weekly by your child's class teacher.
We also encourage the use of TT Rock Stars, which, again, your child has a log in for and a copy of this has been sent home with your child. Every week, there will be battles and dojos will be given to children who spend time on this app at home. Research shows that spending 15 minutes on TT Rockstars at least three times a week supports your child with developing their multiplication fact recall.
Year 4 Stars!
At River View, we love to celebrate our achievements! Every Friday, we attend a celebration assembly in order to find out if we have been a lucky winner. Look below to see who are stars are.
Current Topic
During the first Autumn half term, our afternoon lessons will be based around History, Art and Computing. In History, we are learning about childhood in the past and in art, we are learning about tone and texture. Computing is going to be about online safety because it's really important that we learn how to stay safe online. Click the subpages below to find out more!
Science
In our science lessons this half term, we are learning all about electricity. We will use a variety of scientific enquiry skills to help us learn. Please click on the subpages below to find out more about what we have been doing during our lessons.
Exciting Learning Opportunities
Previous Learning
Learning we complete in previous half terms will be added here as we progress through Year 4.
Good To Be Green
At River View, we follow the 'Good to be Green' system. All children begin the day on green. Children who listen and follow the classroom/school rules and values, stay on green. If children do not, the following applies:
If a 'stop and think' or yellow card is issued, children have ten minutes to correct their behaviour in order to return to green. Restorative conversations will take place if a red card is issued; parents will be notified of red cards either in person/ telephone call and a copy of the restorative conversation will be emailed home on the day that the card was issued.
Please consult our behaviour policy in the first instance should you have any further questions
Online Safety
We take online safety incredibly seriously here at River View and throughout the year, educate the children about the importance of staying safe online and how to do it.
Here are some websites you may like to look at and discuss with your child.
