Welcome to the Year 5 class page. Mrs Maymand is the class teacher in Sunflowers class and Miss Taylor is the class teacher in Fucshias class. We are extremely lucky to have Mrs Taylor working with us too.
This is the timetable for Year 5. As you can see, we have a Week A and Week B timetable. Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child always in their active wear on these days
Our homework focuses this term will be reading and TTRS. We are having a reading challenge. If children read 24 times this half term and it is logged on Boomreader they will receive a reward. Children are encouraged to practice times table fluency on TTRS as often as possible. There will also be half trembly battles.
At River View, we love to celebrate our achievements! Every Friday, we attend a celebration assembly in order to find out if we have been celebrated this week.
We are following the 'Maths - No Problem' programme in our maths lessons this year. Please follow the links below to see some of our work this year.

Throughout the Autumn term, the children will be taking part in a wide range of exciting learning opportunities. In history, they will be exploring the fascinating world of the Vikings, while in DT they will be designing and building their own electrical systems. Geography lessons will take them on a journey to the Alps, learning about life in this unique region, and in art they will be developing their creativity by investigating and making 3D sculptures to create interactive installations. Please check back regularly to see the wonderful work they produce across the term.

At River View, we follow the 'Good to be Green' system. All children begin the day on green. Children who listen and follow the classroom/school rules and values, stay on green. If children do not, the following applies:
If a 'stop and think' or yellow card is issued, children have ten minutes to correct their behaviour in order to return to green. Restorative conversations will take place if a red card is issued; parents will be notified of red cards either in person/ telephone call and a copy of the restorative conversation will be emailed home on the day that the card was issued.
Please consult our behaviour policy in the first instance should you have any further questions.
We take online safety incredibly seriously here at River View and throughout the year, educate the children about the importance of staying safe online and how to do it. There are some websites and images below that you may wish to discuss with your child in order to support their online safety further.
