The children were exploring reversible changes which included dissolving and changes of state. They were developing their scientific skills by predicting what they thought would happen to the different materials they were testing. The children explored how to reverse changes of state by heating and cooling.
The children enjoyed exploring the hardness and uses of different materials. They tested, compared and grouped materials by how hard or soft they were. The children worked in groups and discussed the specific purpose of the materials based on their hardness. When carrying out the test, the children identified the variables to control and also discussed how variables affect the degree of trust in the results.
