Our topic this term is, ‘Night and Day’.
In September, we like to spend a couple of weeks getting to know the children, finding out their interests and their strengths. It is an important time for children as they get to know their new classroom, teachers, peers and the rules and routines.
During our first topic session we explored day and night routines, sorting pictures into those we do in the day and those we would do at night. We then discussed the pictures and shared our own ideas of activities we do at different times of the day.
Remember, remember the 5th November!
We will be learning about firework safety and developing our fine motor skills whilst creating firework art.
During in topic this week, we began by looking at some images of fireworks and sharing our experiences of bonfire night and fireworks. We listened to some music and talked about the instruments we could hear and how the music made us feel. Then, we enjoyed exploring different ways of moving like fireworks including, running, crouching down, jumping up and spinning around.
This week we made fruit rockets! We began by discussing the importance of being healthy and how we could do this. We then carefully chopped the fruit and created our fruit rocket kebabs!
Colourful Semantics
We are starting our Literacy journey by learning to use colourful semantics to develop our speaking skills. We have been learning to create ‘who + what doing?’ sentences.
