Escape from Pompeii
This half term we are reading 'Escape from Pompeii'. We will be using this text to write our own historical narrative all about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius! Today we started our text by thinking about what life was like before the eruption. We made our very own mini volcano eruption. We finished off our lesson by researching what Pompeii was like following the eruption.
On Tuesday 14th January, we acted in the role of the main character Tranio. We asked Tranio all about his daily routine. Tomorrow, we will use this information to write a diary entry as Tranio.
Today we orally retold the story of Escape from Pompeii. We started by discussing the typical structure of a narrative (opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending). We then separated the key events in Escape from Pompeii into the narrative structure. A group orally retold each part of the story focussing on our intonation and expression.
