Pets

We have been grouping animals based on their diet, we created a venn diagram, herbivores, carnivores and omnivores in the middle. We loved researching what different animals eat and categorising them appropriately, we had lots of super scientist questions and were so shocked that the biggest animals didn’t eat meat like giraffes and elephants!

To start our learning about animals we shared all the animals we already knew, then we thought about all their different characteristics animals have; feathers, fur, scales, large, small, trunks, ears etc we then sorted some of the animals we knew into different groups together on the carpet, after we had a go at sorting a range of different animals into categories at our tables, some animals were new to us so we had to research and find out all about them.

Today we learnt all about different types of animals, the names of different groups and their characteristics. We then sorted and classified a range of common animals that we knew.
