This week, we are celebrating World Book Week with the theme ‘Endeavour to love reading’. The children completed some learning to love reading activities during English and reading lessons on Monday, including sharing their favourite books from home with friends and making a bookmark to take home.
Another school from the trust, Two Rivers Primary School, has chosen ‘Billy’s Bucket’ by Kes Gray for us to focus our lessons on this week. In English, we have thought of our own scenes that we might see in our buckets, using expanded noun phrases to describe them. In Geography, we explored the 5 oceans on using iPads to research. In PSHE, we explored themes of sharing that came up when Billy didn’t want to share his bucket and created our own class sharing bucket. In Art, we created shoebox dioramas of a sea scene.
Our World Book Day is themed around the Trust’s CEO’s favourite book, ‘Alice in Wonderland’. During the day, we spent time in our RICHER houses, linking Science, Design and Technology, and dance lessons to the book. We enjoyed a drink and snack at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with our parents!
