Ourselves

In 'Ourselves' topic we have learnt about how we change as we grow from being a baby to an adult. We loved matching the teachers in school to their baby photographs and looking at which of their features had changed and which had stayed the same. We also loved collecting data by measuring our hands and feet and seeing comparing them to our friends.

We carried out a special investigation for Mrs Whitehouse to help her purchase new gloves for OPAL, we investigated the question, ‘Is hand size linked to foot size? Would the children's welly size tell Mrs Whitehouse what size gloves they needed? We drew around our hands and feet and measured the size using cubes, we then compared everyone’s sizes and looked for patterns.

This week we have been learning about our body parts in science, we completed lots of fun activities, drawing life size human outlines and labelling them, making humans out of play dough and Lego with all the correct body parts, using the iPads to digitally draw and label the human body parts and checking out understanding with a quiz.

Listen to our videos, naming the parts of our bodies.

Today we explored our five senses and what part of the body we use for each. We had a mystery item which we had to smell, listen to, look at, touch and finally taste!

This week we went on a senses walk around our school and through the forest schools area to see what we could see, hear, smell and touch.
