PE

At River View, we believe that Physical Education (PE) plays a crucial role in not only promoting the physical development of our pupils, but also their social, emotional, and cognitive development. We intend to provide a high-quality PE curriculum that engages all children, of all abilities, in a range of activities to foster a lifelong love for physical activity and well-being. We believe that through our PE lessons, children will develop their RICHER values and essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and respect, which will positively impact their overall academic achievements and well-being.

OPAL

Physical Education is not just a lesson on the timetable - it is happening all the time! Although the children may not know it, they are learning through play with our amazing Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) lunch times! As well as being active and of course, having fun, the children are developing their creativity, independence, strategic thinking, teamwork, self-regulation... the list could go on! Martial Arts - Wrestling

This term, some of our children are taking part in our martial arts club! This is a great way to build strength, stamina and discipline. The children have been having lots of fun whilst learning effective self-defence strategies in a safe and positive environment.

Archery

Bullseye! In Autumn term, the children had the opportunity to take part in archery sessions during lunch time. Promoting hand-eye coordination, balance, muscle strength and resilience, archery is a great physical activity!

Laser Tag

The dining hall has been turned into a battle zone! In Autumn term, some of our children had a fantastic time taking part in our laser tag after school activity. As well as being a great form of exercise, laser tag helps to improve communication, encourages strategic thinking, promotes teamwork and improves hand-eye coordination. All whilst having fun!

Theme Week Dance!

We were very lucky to have Libby Stokes, a past pupil of River View, come to visit us during our theme weeks. Libby represented England in the Dance World championships and came fifth in the whole world! We learned some dance routines based on our theme book 'The Ugly Five' and KS2 even had the opportunity to choreograph their own routine!

P.E at home

Sports Day 2023!

We had a fantastic time competing in our teams at a variety of different activities: sprints, throwing, balancing and jumping. Of course, there was also lots of shouting and cheering for our teams too!

I hope you enjoy looking through some of the photos from our day!
